Our Story
Skin City once located at 323 Divisadero was founded by the present owner, Brigitta Melendy, in July 1995. After 23 years at the Divis location, owner, Brigitta relocated her practice and re-opened on the sunny side of the bay in Oakland at 3737 MacArthur Blvd in the up and coming Laurel District. The new skin studio opened in October 2018 and continues to offer services supporting overall wellness. New services include therapeutic massage and cupping. l hundred regulars– some of whom have been clients since opening in 1995!
Skin City is known not only as a skin care salon, but also as a neighborhood supporter of various community events. It is a way of giving back to a community that has allowed the salon to flourish.

Brigitta Melendy, owner and esthetician
Brigitta, a native San Franciscan, is a lifelong enthusiast of living her best life. An esthetician since 1993, she discovered her desire to be self-employed soon after receiving her state license. Ms. Melendy developed a passion for wellness and furthered her education of cosmetic ingredients, its applications and holistic health practices. To achieve the best results in skincare, she developed her own skin care line, known as Bright Blends. After 2 decades of running Skin City and providing quality skincare, she realized there was more she could offer.
Since the founding of Skin City in 1995, her focus has evolved beyond skin care to becoming an advocate for the underserved by supporting local childcare centers, children’s schools, and battered women’s shelters. Her latest partnership with the UCSF Gynecological Oncology Center, has afforded her the opportunity to provide pro bono services for patients undergoing cancer treatments.
As a public speaker, Brigitta has donated time to various organizations speaking about being a business owner. It’s her genuine desire to share her knowledge and expert resources with women wanting to start a business, grow their business or simply live their best lives. She has been recognized as a woman business leader who has achieved excellence in her professional and personal life.
Jewelz Moyer LAc, has been a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist since 2009. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a perfect fit for Skin City due to her skincare offerings. She is one of the rare acupuncturist who offers 'Acu-facials' - known as a holistic 'facelift'. Jewelz is certified in advanced micro-needling treatments utilizing DermaPen technology for facial rejuvenation, scarring, hyperpigmentation, cellulite, wrinkles and resurfacing. She is available Wednesday's from 3-8 pm
